The Light Festival in Yogyakarta

Welcome back to my blog. I am so sorry that I cannot share you a lot of stories like what I have said in the very first post of this blog. I have a lot of things to do with my work, so I got lack of time to write you stories which I actually have been thinking to share.

Anyway, how is you life now? You are doing good, aren't you? I hope you are. I would like to tell you that currently I have 22 lists of things that I wanted to do before July 22, 2017, and this post is one of the accomplished thing from the list.

In the very beginning, I was scheduled myself to meet one of my junior high school friend named Gita who visited Yogyakarta for few days. She came here with her family, but usually she would always got a time to meet her friends here. I and her decided to meet and explore Yogyakarta after around 7 years have not seeing each other, so we decided to got to a place to have a good time.

So, in today's post I would like to share about the place that I and Gita visited. It is actually not a brand new tourism destination but I just got a time and chance to visit it after four years living in Yogyakarta. It is an amusement park located in Sleman, Yogyakarta named Sindu Kusuma Edupark. Have you heard about this park before? I you are not, I would like to inform you a bit about it based on a small research that I did on the internet -- I forgot to read it from the information board at the park --.

Sindu Kusuma Edupark or known as SKE is a family friendly amusement park that is also designed with an educational concept. This amusement park is located nearby Jl. Magelang on the 2nd KM, Sleman Yogyakarta (Jl. Jambon). SKE was built in at 2 December 2014 on 7 hectare area. The entrance of SKE is IDR 15,000,-/person for entrance only not included with rides pass, or IDR 45,000,-/person to IDR 100,000,-/person for entrance and rides pass. SKE consists with a lot of interesting amusement rides and attraction such as ferris wheel, carousel, bumper cars, sky diver, flying fox, and batik museum. One of the latest attraction that SKE offers to the visitors is Light Festival.

The Light Festival is a surprisingly a compelling attraction by SKE. It has a lot of delightful and vibrant colors of lights that will satisfy your eyes. There are a lot of different colors and also concept of shape that SKE Light Festival offers. The entrance ticket for this attraction is IDR 45,000,-/person. When you bought the ticket, you will also got a welcome drink which is a tea in a plastic cup. After you got stamped on the entrance gate, you have to walk around 50 - 75 meters to the location of Light Festival. Whilst you are on the way to the location, please do not forget to take a picture in the front of the ferris wheel because it has become the iconic rides of SKE.

Moving on the Light Festival, you have to give the ticket to the officer before you enter the attraction site. When you just arrived, you will be welcomed by a gate with a 'Light Festival' word glowing and shining the calm and cold surrounding atmosphere. Well, I did suddenly fall in love with the ambience of this attraction.

I suggest you to bring DSLR or mirrorless camera not the pocket or basic phone camera ones. It is because this is a light festival, everything is it basically lack of lighting to make the light glow. I found some difficulties to capture the moment with my phone. Sometimes I got a silhouette image of an object that I could not focus on since the camera will got a lot of noise if I put it on the highest exposure. So, kindly I suggest you to explore the angle and do some creativity stuffs at Light Festival if you find some difficulties to capture the moment. Here are some pictures that I and Gita took in Light Festival of SKE.

I do really satisfied with this attraction. I even think that this attraction does not seem like that we are in Yogyakarta if we can really play with the angle of the images. I even do embrace myself to finally being wanted to be captured by Gita which I usually being not interested to be snapped on a camera (afraid of bad result, haha). I do really like this attraction.

The Light Festival or generally SKE is wonderful attraction or place that you should visit. It will fascinate your mind to see all glowing lights in front of you. Yeah, Light Festival become my favorite attraction in SKE, but for some cases there are still some missing parts that I feel in this amusement park. First, there are lack of signage. Signage is a simple thing that most of people do not really care about. The signage that is used in SKE is not tall in my personal review. I found it hard to see the direction from the distance since the height of the signage is same with people around. Second, I see a only few of food corner in SKE which most of them were closed. Food is a thing that everyone need. Especially after we finished a ride, some of us might be feel hungry and a snack won't make us full. Third, there are a lot of empty spaces in SKE. It is what a waste that this 7 hectare amusement park that was built in 2014 still have some of empty spaces. It is actually can be used for a new rides or for an event needs. I do also see lack of visitors in this amusement park, and maybe it is also because of this. I personally think that the management should be more aggressive in promoting this park to get more visitors. I even got an imagination if this park would create a music event with the ferris wheel as the background of the stage, and a bazaar is being held whilst the music is being performed by one of popular musician. My final thoughts of SKE is everything is great, basically. I do really want to visit this park in the future. Hopefully there are some new rides or attraction, haha.
